What is a Heirloom Album and Why it’s my Signature Item

My signature heirloom albums are simply photo albums that are both gorgeous and high in quality.

Archival Quality to Last Generations

Printed with archival quality ink on professional grade paper that can last up to 200 years in dark storage, these are not your grandmother’s photo albums.

Assembled with wrap-around covers by hand in a professional print lab, located in the United States, these heirloom albums are the best way to memorialize your professional portraits.

I have a soft spot in particular for a good photo album because of my own special memories receiving photo albums each year for Christmas from my Auntie Susan. Each of my cousins and siblings would receive one from her and it was always so much fun to lay on the floor amid torn wrapping-paper, carefully turning each page to see the photos of the last year.

Today these are priceless possessions that I am grateful to have to look back at my childhood and family history.

Growing up to be a professional photographer, it is a no-brainer that my heirloom albums would be my signature item to offer.

Personalized Details

Before going to print, clients are sent a digital preview of the photo layout. In addition to layout, there are five opportunities to customize the album: cover material, cover title, page thickness, page gilding, as well as album forward or endnotes. These details can make each one totally unique and one-of-a-kind. Because I know decision fatigue is real, I am always happy to make selections start to finish on the behalf of clients as requested. Kind of like being on one of those reality tv shows where the designer reveals the final product at the end of the process. How fun is that?

Covers

I currently offer six varieties of genuine leather and five linen colors. The Italian full-grain-leather is moisture resistant and age beautifully with rich patina (a beautiful sheen and antiquing effect.)

The textile blended linen covers offer nostalgic texture and detail.

Embossing

Up to three lines up to 15 characters each on the front cover. Embossing colors include: Black, Copper, Gold, Matte Gold, Granite, Silver, Matte Silver or White. Blind, or no color embossing is also an option.

Font options include baskerville, coco gothic, dessau pro, eye catching and garage gothic.

Metallic Gilding

To match the embossing on the cover I recommend upgrading to gilding on the page edges. Only available for gold, silver and black.

Page Thickness and Shape

Standard page thickness is 1.55mm while thick pages are 1.9mm each creating a bulkier finished album. Pages without gilding may be printed with square or rounded edges.

Heartfelt Forward or Endnotes

Text may be submitted as an introduction or note at the back of the album, which can elevate the album into a one-of-a-kind gift. 50-100 words recommend. Citing the date and location of the photographs will truly make your heirloom album a piece of history.

For Seniors

Heirloom albums are not just for family photos. Helping high school seniors celebrate senior year and graduation is one of my favorite things. Customizing my signature heirloom albums makes perfectly unique yearbooks to highlight senior photos.

For Couples

I recommend heirloom albums for couples to celebrate getting engaged and their anniversary. 50 years down the road it’s something couples can look back on together, probably with wet eyes.

For Literally Everyone

Professional portraits are worth printing in a format that can be enjoyed regardless of digtal storage, and passed on to future generations.
