Planning Your Engagement Photos with Me

This photograph was taken inside a living room, but you would never tell otherwise. Being at home may help make everyone feel at ease so let me know if an in-home studio session is what you’re interested in.

What to Wear in a Nutshell

Keep it Simple; add accessories to personalize

In this photograph, not only do we have a focus on the engagement ring but also on the watch which belonged to her mother.

  • Avoid distracting logos or images on shirts.

  • Patterns and prints are beautiful and as a couple it’s best one of you is wearing solid color or monochrome to avoid clashing design.

  • Wear practical shoes for the location. Casual footwear can look elevated when it’s fresh and clean.

  • Wear an outer layer to easily add variety to your outfits.

  • Wear true to size; too big and too tight makes no one look right.

  • You can read more in outfit ideas for couples here.

What Photo Day is Like

This will be different depending on if the session THE proposal - or if you are already engaged and are taking photos together to celebrate and get your save-the-dates out.

If you are proposing, I'll make a plan with you to determine if I need to hide in plain sight and come up with a signal so I can be ready.

If this is the first time you and your partner are having photos done together professionally, just know that it is a very fun experience. No modeling or practicing necessary.

My Take on Posing

The best way I capture couples in love, is by prompting them to just be themselves. I'll ask couples to hold hands, face each other, and to hug and kiss. How couples do this is up to them.

Sessions may take up to an hour long but I have been able to capture all the shots I aim for in as little as half an hour. My philosophy is the value I provide is the final product, and not making clients repeat poses just for the sake of filling time.

After the Session

I offer the option to pay for digitals on the spot after I’m done taking photographs. This allows couples to be able to download photos as soon as the online gallery is emailed.

Online galleries are sent in about one week, which is my current turn around at the time of writing this. (In the agreement form I guarantee 30 days.)

My online galleries are shareable and a perfect way to allow parents, aunties & uncles, friends to see and enjoy the photos too.

If couples wait to pay for digitals (and prints for that matter too), the Print Store is attached and allows for both digital and print purchases.

For couples who purchase my signature item, the Heirloom Album, I will also share a mock-up of the design prior to sending it to print. Learn more about Heirloom Albums here.

Enjoy the Moments You’ll Love Forever

Going from people who are dating to people who call each other fiancé is a big deal and it’s worth celebrating! It’s one of the reasons why I love portrait photography so much. Life is meant to be celebrated and what is worth commemorating the next step in your loving relationship.
