Black & White Included

FAQ

I LOVE Black & White Portraits. So every one of my clients receives their photos in both color and in a black & white copies. Here is why I love B&W:

They’re Striking

Portrait photography is all about capturing a moment in time. A facial expression, a knowing look or glance. A relationship between two people in love. A relationship between a parent and their child. A milestone in a life.

I love capturing these moments for people and sometimes when I look at a portrait that really shows off someone’s personality or their love for one another it is simply stunning. Striking. For me, editing a photo to black and white takes that picture to another level. Black and white portraits captivate my attention and inspire me more than a color photo does sometimes. I just love them!

Transcending Time

Before color film or even digital photography, the art was completely black and white. And because the oldest photos I have seen transport me to another time, seeing a contemporary photo in black and white almost gives the same effect of traveling to a different time and place. It’s a juxtaposition between a long ago and now. I’m a photographer first, not a writer, so I’m even having a hard time putting this to words. Please tell me in the comments if I am making any sense to you!

It’s Special

It makes me think about historical artists taking on the task of adding color to black and white photos from WWI. It’s so different looking at those events in color for the first time. So when I edit a client gallery, and create a black and white portrait - it’s like meeting the people in the photo for the first time again. It makes me look at the photo differently and pulls me in to notice their expression and the glow in their eyes. Black and white portraits are simply special.

So, All My Clients Receive Both Color & B&W Photos

Within each client gallery are “collections” which are navigated by a tab menu at the top. Kind of like tabs in a browser. Often I categorize these collections by Color, B&W, and Photographer’s Top Picks.

To be honest, it’s a process I developed by accident but one that I love and am proud to be able to offer to my clients.
