3 Outfit Ideas for Affordable Maternity Portraits

Expecting a child is an exciting time worth capturing. Being 26 weeks pregnant myself, I still have a long way to go but couldn't wait to take my self-portrait with my new baby bump. One day I plan on investing in a luxurious maternity gown with a long tail that can catch in the breeze--but until then I captured these nice portraits of my little baby bump in these three affordable outfits. If you are expecting as well, I hope these looks inspire you to take a look at items you probably already have in your closet that can be perfect choices to wear to your own maternity photo session.

1. Flannel and Leggings

This particular flannel shirt is a maternity shirt I found for $30 at Target. Add leggings and a comfy sports bra and bam--this is look number one.

2. Just the Undies

I'll be honest, even after taking these photos of myself I still feel apprehensive and shy to share them. I mean, I'm in my underwear! But at the end of the day, I have to agree with my mother-in-law Gail who says, "It's just like wearing a bathing suit." And she's right. How many times have I been in a two-piece at a pool or at the beach in the summer without a second thought? Looking at these photos now, I feel they are really important to telling my pregnancy story. Being pregnant changes a woman's body, and being in my undies reveals that process.

3.  Sweater Dress

Found online for $20, this ribbed and long sleeve turtle-neck dress perfectly shows off the curves of pregnancy, adds texture and a huge pop of color. It was my favorite look to wear for maternity portraits and the most cozy and comfortable.

So which look is your favorite? Let me know what you think.
